The Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital was founded in 1987 under the Administration of Kashmir welfare society for human welfare with the main objectives to provide advanced medical facilities at nominal cost for the general public. It was not an easy task but the blessings of God and impressive efforts of the people made it possible to construct a massive Hospital setup.

In 1986, a portion of twenty seven canals of land was purchased in the name of Allama Iqbal Memorial Trust Hospital. The Land was situated 9km away from Gujranwala city towards south on the left side of G.T Road going to Lahore. Its construction was started in 1988. In 1991, the first construction was complete with the capacity of 32 Beds. On 18 Jun 1992, indoor / outdoor departments started their regular work up till now the indoor capacity has been increased to 150 Beds.

The Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital is functioning in Gujranwala as a Multi-discipline Hospital with over 150 beds, out-patient clinics and emergency services since 1990 and by the grace of God has provided ethical medical services to thousands of patients. It is governed by the Kashmir Welfare Society, which is registered by the Govt. as a Welfare Organization and is run on non-profit basis.

The Hospital is located at the sungam (center) of Gujranwala city and rural area which is populated largely by a low income people and communities. Consequently, approximately 50% of our patients are subsidized to varying degrees by the Hospital and are fully documented. Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital is able to attract, by the virtue of reputation and high quality of work, affording patients from far & wide who constitute our major source of income. However this does not suffice to meet the deficit of about 40 to 50% to total expenditure which is incurred in helping the needy non affording patients.
